Database Administrator Job Duties / Requirement
 Specialize in all aspects of database designing, installing and programming with Sybase Adaptive
Server Enterprise, Replication server and Sybase IQ Server, Transact SQL and Open Client
programming
 Specialize in all aspects of database designing, installing and programming with Sybase Adaptive
Server Enterprise, Replication server and Sybase IQ Server, Transact SQL and Open Client
programming
 Set up Replication Definitions, Replication Subscriptions, Replication Paths and Routes for Warm
Standby Replicated Database.
 Set up Replication Server Manager to monitor health of Replication Servers and Data servers in
the production environment.
 Perform TCP/IP address management, set up default gateways, tuned packet size for optimum
configuration with Sybase.
 Implement production backup plan and write scripts to automatically dump the database and
transaction logs at regular intervals during the business day.
 Installation and configuration of Sybase Database (Both ASE and IQ).
Installation and configuration of Sybase IQ Multiplex Environment.
 Experience in troubleshooting and resolving database integrity issues, performance issues,
blocking and deadlocking issues, replication issues.
 Experience in Performance Tuning, Query Optimization, related monitoring and troubleshooting
tools.
 Ability to detect and troubleshoot issues related CPU, memory, I/O, disk space and other
resource contention.
 Strong knowledge of backups, restores, recovery models, database shrink operations, DBCC
commands.
 Expert experience in implementing operational automation.
 Strong knowledge of ASE upgrade, Memory management and configuration parameters setup.
 User/Schema/Service accounts and Password management in all the environments.
 Have experience on Windows & UNIX platform
 Willingness to work with multiple Database technologies.
 Communicate/work effectively in a team environment & must be willing to provide on call support
in 24*7 environment including after-hours/weekend support.
