Database Administrator Job Duties / Requirement
Experience on MS SQL Server Administration (preferably MCTS) as a primary skill set, secondary skill
for MSSQL / MySQL and Oracle.
Proficient in ITIL process (preferably ITIL Certified) and ticketing tools (Service-Now, etc)
Administration of SQL Server databases in Production, Test, Integration and Development
environments.
Installation, Configuration & Maintenance, Patching, Upgradation and Vulnerability remediation.
Database Migration (On-Prem to Azure)
Database Backup and Restore, Re-Indexing, Update Stats, Auditing, DB Size Monitoring, Compression
DR (Disaster Recovery) Testing, Database Performance Tuning, Monitoring alerts.
User/Schema/Service accounts and Password management in all the environments.
Log Shipping, Analysis of Database growth for future planning, Replication
Configuring and Maintaining the SQL Agents Jobs and Maintenance plan tasks, configuring alerts and
monitoring.
Performance Monitor, taking trace files using Profiler, getting DTA (Database engine Tuning Advisor)
recommendations.
Good exposure in Always on High Availability Clustered environment.
Installing, Configuring, managing, monitoring, identifying deadlocks, long running queries, query
tuning.
Limited to SSIS and SSRS. Implemented DB growth trend chart using SSRS.
Shall deliver against agreed SLA’s including quality aspects for services.
Working with Remedy Incident, Work Order, Change Request tickets and monitoring the mail alerts.
Automating most of the administration tasks using Powershell and SQL Agent jobs.
Use the appropriate support tools (e.g. ServiceNow including the Knowledge Base), forms and
templates to support the ITIL processes.
Following the ITIL process (Incident, Service desk, Incident and Problem Management)
